Choosing the Right Cataract Treatment

Learn more about cataracts, treatment options, and what kind of surgery may be right for you.

Cataract surgery is the most common surgery in the country. Cataracts cause your lens to become cloudy, which can have a detrimental effect on your vision, and cataract surgery replaces this lens. It is generally a short, outpatient procedure, but there are different cataract procedures to choose from—either laser-assisted cataract surgery, or the more traditional ultrasound-based cataract surgery.

At Sterling Vision, we believe that just because the laser option is newer doesn’t necessarily mean it’s better or right for your particular eyes. We’ll work with you to choose what’s best for you, and then perform the best surgery with the best technology in order to have the best outcomes. Many other doctors suggest the laser option simply to uncharge their patients. We would never do that at Sterling Vision, as providing the best service also means providing the best value.

Types of Cataracts

  • Nuclear Cataract: affects the center of the lens
  • Cortical Cataract: affects the edges of the lens
  • Posterior Subcapsular Cataract: affects the back of the lens
  • Congenital Cataract: a cataract you are born with
